Creamy Turmeric Tahini Dressing
This dressing is pure sunshine! I have been so excited to share it with you all, but I wanted to perfect it first. I came up with this dressing with the desire to create something simple and medicinal, that could keep throughout the week.
Creating weekly staples is something Sarah, Rhae, and I talk a lot about. Through teaching workshops, and life experience, we have realized that one of the best ways to stay healthy is through a little bit of prep work. I often suggest to take a Sunday afternoon (and maybe another day mid week) to soak your grains, sprout your beans, make your nut milks, chant over your ghee, blend herbal space balls, brew your supernatural tonics, pre-chop your vegetables, etc. Creating this space in your week will make your work week flow so much smoother. Because what good is eating nourishing foods, if you feel rushed and stressed making them?
In the theme of spring, I have been eating a lot of fresh salads. I share a garden in Emerald Valley with a beautiful soul named Meggie. We often pick and massage kale from the garden, and this has been a wonderful dressing to drizzle on top! And with a little bit of her homemade goat cheese…incredible.
I love this dressing because it’s simple, taste like sunshine, and packs in the healing powers of turmeric! Turmeric is a powerful anti-inflammatory that has been used for helping those with arthritis, stomach conditions, and even skin problems. We urge you to do more research on turmeric's healing power if you are looking to treat an imbalance.
The recipe bellow will create enough for about a 1/2 a cup of dressing. This will be food for a big salad with friends, or a few bowls all to yourself. Just double or triple the recipe if you want to keep it in the fridge to use throughout the week. You can make the dressing go further if you put some in a bowl and whisk in a sprinkle of water. It is also good with a spoonful of honey! And, add in a bit of cayenne if you like a kick.
MATERIALS
Whisk
Small mixing bowl
INGREDIENTS
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
2 tbsp tahini
4 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp turmeric
1 clove of minced garlic
1/2 a lemon
A pinch of salt
METHOD
Pour your olive oil into the mixing bowl. Whisk in your tahini, and continue to whisk as you add in your apple cider vinegar and lemon juice.
If you are making a bigger batch of the dressing it will be especially important to slowly pour in the vinegar and lemon juice as you whisk! Slowly adding the more acidic ingredients to the oil while whisking is what creates a dreaaamy and creamy dressing! So this is a fundamental step.
Then add in your healing turmeric, minced garlic, salt, and whatever else your heart desires!
