Cardamom Coffee
Nothing makes a morning better than waking up to a hot cup of french pressed coffee.
Drinking coffee is a real treat at The Morris House. Lately we have been sticking to mostly herbal teas and maté, but sometimes we just can’t help ourselves! This recipe makes a frothy chocolaty latte spiced with cardamom, cinnamon, and vanilla!
INGREDIENTS
4-5 Tbsp course ground coffee (Shade-grown and Fair-trade)
1-2 Tbsp carob powder
5 cardamom pods
1 tsp of cinnamon
1 tblspn vanilla extract
sugar/honey/stevia (to taste)
2 cups of milk
METHOD
Boil a pot of water.
Put all ingredients into the french press and then pour boiling water over them and up to the fill line.
Stir the ingredients around with a wooden spoon (other spoons have the potential of breaking the glass).
Let sit for 5-10 minutes, and while waiting warm up 2 cups of milk (we drink raw goat milk or nut milk) and add sugar to taste.
Pour the warm milk into your cups and froth with a hand frother. If you don’t have a hand frother a whisk will do the job. Put the whisk in the cup and holding it between both of your hands and rolling the handle like you are trying to start a fire :)
Then pour your fresh brew over the frothy milk, and add a pinch cinnamon powder on top for garnish!
And voila! Your coffee will never be the same :)
