MARCH // Things we love!

The sun is shining, the nettles are rising and the lupins are blooming. The spring equinox is around the corner, but the flowers just couldn't wait! I'm so happy to be in California, and grateful for all the lovely discoveries and adventures this coming of spring has had to offer... -I'm loving this TED talk on neurons, that explains what makes us humans different than any other species on Earth - we cook! This 13 minute video will forever change the way you look at your kitchen.

-Very excited about my new mug from Martina Thornhill. Before I moved out here I got rid of nearly everything so I could squeeze myself into a tiny yurt. Now I am happy to have running water, indoor plumbing and a growing ceramic collection.

-Cactus heaven (a.k.a. The Ruth Bancroft Garden) in Walnut Creek, CA was a real treat! Some of these beauties are almost 70 years old, and still sharp.

-Sarah and I will be re-watching one of our favorite art/activism films, A Weiwei: Never Sorry, in preparation to visit his exhibit at Alcatraz.

-We were honored to be able to witness the creation of this beautiful sand mandala by monks from the Drepung Loseling Monastery, who were visiting The Tibetan Gallery and Studio here in Sebastopol. A lesson impermanence.

-And finally, we're SO grateful to be taking a series of classes with Ethnobotanist Kathleen Harrison called Global Ethnobotany with a Local Focus at West County Herb Shop. Our first class was this past weekend and we've already learned so much. If you are wondering "what the heck is ethnobotany?" Put simply, it means the study of the relationships between humans and plants. Through this course, we hope grow closer to the ancestors, their practices and our personal connection to the plant queendom.

We'll be making some magical meals at The Supermoon Retreat this weekend in Sebastopol. We hope each of you feel the magic of this moon + spring equinox.

So many blessings.
